I’m Shaswat, 20 years old by age, blogger, stock market enthusiast and an upcoming engineer. I’m also a contributor on HuffingtonPost, LifeHacker, Business2Community and Tech Cocktail.
As Seen On,
I was born in Surat, India. I started my blogging journey back in 2011, and I did not even know that what I was doing is called blogging.
So when I was in standard 9, I somehow managed to convince my mom to get me a computer, but when I got a computer, my parents didn’t agree to get an internet connection. Having a computer without an internet connection, it’s like watching a movie without sound!
Then I started using my Mom’s mobile internet and connected it to my computer and was able to use the internet on PC. But later it turned out that it cost me way too much money even though at that time Tata Docomo was providing 2GB Internet at only 48 Rs.
It was a big problem for me. And 48 Rs every month was a huge amount because I wasn’t earning a penny at that time and also I was just 13. So, one of my Facebook friends suggested me to buy an Airtel sim card and told me about the vulnerability in Airtel GPRS, all I needed was to just type in the correct APN and IP Address and I was able to use the free 3G internet.
And I got my Internet Connection…well, thank you Airtel!
Then I knew that I want to do something on the web. And I was more curious about how these things work, and that’s how it all started. So I did search and came to know that we can make a free blog from Blogger.com and we can call it as our website.
My first site was pretty negligent, and that was not a blog. My second site was a blog, but it wasn’t a valid one because I was sharing content about downloading pirated stuff online. At that time I wasn’t aware that pirated stuff is illegal, but I was very naive that I did not even know that this what I’m doing is called “Blogging.”
And then my brother (cousin) caught me doing this stuff. He was aware that I was sharing pirated stuff and it was illegal, and he told me to stop doing it or else he will tell my Dad as my parents were not aware of my internet addiction.
“My Pirated blog” was going working well for me it was getting around 5k hits a day, and I was triumphal with this stats considering that I was naive. But later I realized that I should stop doing this because it can get my parents into legal troubles.
The Real Blogging Journey
“It never ended,” my desire to make successful blog never ended. I started another blog on Hacking. No, I wasn’t a Hacker, and I’m not a Hacker even now also, but I started on Hacking because like all other computer young geeks Hacking term enchanted me, LOL how naive I was back then.
But… I Failed miserably! Of-course duh!
Later, (fast-forwarding some failures) I started another blog on How-to and tech tutorials, and I worked on it, and now I knew that what mistakes I needed to avoid in this one and so it went well.
I did not know that we can even earn from Blogging and it has so much potential! I came across one blog post about Adsense monetization and then came across many monetization techniques.
In between, I also researched “How to get traffic to my site” and came across the term SEO. I dived into it and researched more about it and implemented on my current blogs and it gave me good results as well.
As I loved reading, I kept on digesting articles on SEO and Link Building, became a member of SEO forums, interacted with blogging community on Facebook and because of that I was getting a significant amount of SEO knowledge on a daily basis. And all these things I even continue today!.
Today – Present
Today my current blogging journey is going decently. I expect to grow more in the future as we all do. I currently have more than 18 blogs under my network, and out of them, 4-5 are my main blogs for my income source. I make a sufficient amount of money from blogging, which helps me to cover my monthly expenditures and occasional tours.
Also, I’m very active and love Stock market. You can check my stock market portfolio from here.
I’ve made a lot of good friends in Indian Blogging Community and still learning a lot from them. I love to help people, so I keep helping as it gives me immense pleasure.
